Amidst lots of controversies over the past few days questioning some of the stalwarts attitude, there has been some grief for the Indian cricket fans. The loss of Dada and Jumbo has been really crude.

Dada has been the face of resilience. He never gave up. He is an inspiration for many. I used to hate this bloke for some reason of my own. But after his stellar return, all opinions changed. Never have I seen such resolution. Indian cricket is surely going to miss its best captain. He had inspired the Indians to humble the mighty Aussies and puncture the English. I appreciate him for the way he backed his team.
In another way Jumbo was a pride of the nation. He was aggressive. With every ball he bowled, he was looking to rattle the stumps. His was a face of resoution. The third wicket in his last match , that of Mitchell Johnson, where he runs backwards and takes a fine catch, surmises the life of a real fighter. Two catches were dropped earlier. Some of them sitter. And he took matter in his (injured) hands and took a stunning catch.

But with the departure of these two great cricketing giants, its the beginning of end of Indian cricket's legacy. The fab four and Jumbo had been the heart of Indian cricket these many years. But with their retirement on the brink, watching cricket might not be the same.

Victoria Portrait Series

The first set of British India notes were the 'Victoria Portrait' Series issued in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 1000. These were unifaced, carried two language panels and were printed on hand-moulded paper manufactured at the Laverstock Paper Mills (Portals). The security features incorporated the watermark (GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, RUPEES, two signatures and wavy lines), the printed signature and the registration of the notes.

British India Notes facilitated inter-spatial transfer of funds. As a security precaution, notes were cut in half. One set was sent by post. On confirmation of receipt, the other half was despatched by post.

Small Denomination Notes!

The introduction of small denomination notes in India was essentially in the realm of the exigent. Compulsions of the first World War led to the introduction of paper currency of small denominations. Rupee One was introduced on 30th November, 1917 followed by the exotic Rupees Two and Annas Eight. The issuance of these notes was discontinued on 1st January, 1926 on cost benefit considerations. These notes first carried the portrait of King George V and were the precursors of the 'King's Portrait' Series which were to follow.

Regular issues of this Series carrying the portrait of George V were introduced in May, 1923 on a Ten Rupee Note. The King's Portrait Motif continued as an integral feature of all Paper Money issues of British India. Government of India continued to issue currency notes till 1935 when the Reserve Bank of India took over the functions of the Controller of Currency. These notes were issued in denominations of Rs 5, 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 10,000.

In my childhood days I wanted to be an artist spending all my time under the recluse of a shady tree and perfect my art every tme. But this wish of mine remained and still remains unfulfilled. I am just a scale better than the worst artist around. This made me embrace photography. Recently I was so engrossed in photography medium that I bought myself a new DSLR cam : Olympus E 520. And so far it has been the best one I had ever had. I am not able to post all my photos at one go. So I am uploading my photos in a series wise.

Hailstorms in chennai

With this post my blog has surged the Alexa rankings with 622, 547 rank. And probably this could have been the reason for the hailstorms in Chennai. I was at that time playing around in the ground. At the start of drizzle we cached ourselves under the shade of a tree to safety. All of a sudden some stones started to hit our dumbwitted brains. Realizing it was ice 'stones', we ran helter skelter to save ourselves. Thanks to my helmet, my head was saved. There has been a lot of developments along since the last time I had posted here. My sister had got married. I got a new camera : Olympus E 520 DSLR (I will be posting a collection of my best pics so far with the cam sooner or later). And I am still waiting for my call letter from Logica or CTS. God save this poor soul. Sooner I will also review the Olympus E 520 series camera in my blog for those who are interested in buying a DSLR. So far I am really satisfied having thios cam.

Today was somewhat a mixed bag kinda day for me. I was happy to have bid a PR4 domain for 10$ but to have lost the bid in the last few seconds of the auction. I wasn't much disappointed about the issue than the happiness and surprise that "struck" me when I saw this in Alexa.

This might be just the beginning. I might get a PR4+ hopefully in the next update.
But what gave me more surprise was the way iPhone 3G was to be launched in India.

In probably a first for a gadget launch in the country, iPhone lovers will be able to lay their hands on their favourite toy at midnight on August 22. To celebrate the launch, both service providers, Airtel and Vodafone, will keep their select stores in key metros open well past midnight. The companies have taken special permission for the same.

But is it worth the money? To lay your hands upon an iPhone you gotta shell out Rs.31,000 ("only). For some it might be a one month blog earnings. Then I read this over the web:

In NCR, the unveiling will take place at Airtel brand shop in Sahara Mall, Gurgaon. The company claimed that over 2 lakh prospective buyers had registered on its website for an iPhone. What it did not mention was the fact that it was before iPhone prices for India had been announced. At Rs 31,000 for the 8GB model, many a prospective customers may simply choose not to buy an iPhone.

Poor jerks! Out of their enthusiasm, they might have booked themselves a set. But now would they have regained their conscious, would like to know what they think about that!

In US the price of the iPhone(not the 3G) was 299$. It comes to around 12000 Rs. Does shipping cost 19000? But iPhone 3G is to be launched here in India! IT costs roughly 8000Rs. after the conversion. Wierd!

In US, some of the money is paid by the service provider and the buyer has to signup for a particular service. Here in India also you got to buy from the service provider. But unlike their rich counterparts, who plan big and whose plans are paid for by the extravagant people, Indians wouldn't like to spend hefty sums on mobile bills. This is the difference. Paying for yearly is not everyone's cuppa tea.

To check more I searched the Vodafone "Happy to help" website. Check these features out. I got this from Vodafone website. I hate airtels site which is cumbersome(not in the literal sense). (The template just sickens me. So preferred to go through Vodafone site.)

This is going to be great. GPS.. High speed net.. That's what I thought! On a second thought what a cheap ad. India has so far not set up 3G spectrum and they are selling 3G phones and people are "spending money like water"(that was a conversion of local slang:-) ).
But in days to come the iPhone costs may come down and 3G spectrum for high speed net and GPS facilities will be available. Will be waiting till then to buy my iPhone.
But iPhone has no:

So do think twice. But that doesnt bacck me off the deal. I am going for iPhone when it reaches sub 10K mark. Till then Moto Rokr will do.

Change is nature and nature changes. So does the records. USain Bolt bolted to the finish line in 9.69 seconds. He beat the record set by Asafa Powell of 9.74 seconds set in 2007. But, records are meant to be broken. IT remains a question will they break the 8 seconds mark. The time taken to bolt through 100m is ever on the decrease from the time when Donald Lippincott set the record for the run with 10.60 seconds in 1912. Then Jesse Owens brought it down to 10.2. Men after men set new records and got them listed in the books and felicitated by the media. But to be replaced later by some other. This remains a mystery? What would be the limit!

Travel Times : Munnar

Munnar, set at an altitude of 6000 ft in Idukki district, was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. Unending expanse of tea plantations - pristine valleys and mountains- exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests - aroma of spice scented cool air - yes! Munnar has all these and more. It's the place you would love to visit - it's the place you would wish never to leave. This place has been on my favourite list of visits apart from Thekadi, Khandla and of course Goa. Being an avid photographer (though I am not that good at it!), I would like to take my own time over there at snapping, er, photography. These places seem to be the place for my vacation. But finding a good place to stay was bit difficult. But then I landed here. The Club Mahindra Hotels is what I need to check out. I haven't been to any of the Club Mahindra hotels. This would be a nice opportunity to land there. Apart from that Tall tree houses is what interests me. You can check out the hotel details from hotelscombined. Before going to Munnar do check out the net for places to visit. I am actually longing to visit Munnar after seeing the snaps that my friend had taken. Must visit place! Don't forget to pack a camera along!

This week has been really great for India. Still 3 days left and what more surprise gonna creep in? Firstly, India got its first individual Gol in Olympics. Next India won the AFC and qualified for Asia Cup 2010. The match indeed was a well fought. A perfect Independence day Gift for India and Indians.

The stage was set for the final of the AFC cup final. Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi was the venue. I was glued to my TV set.. er .. comp which serves double purpose as TV. And was ecstatic to see Indians on top. Even though I am a great cricket fan, I love watching footbal. This win gave me far more joy than the 20-20 world cup victory. Bob Houghton, indeed has instilled some vigour in the Indians performance. Day by day Indians are improving on the field. Sunil Chetri, Bhaichung Bhutia were the destructor in charge for the Tajiks. First goal was from Sunil Chetri's golden boots. Still two more were on the way. Pradeep headed the ball, but was stopped by the goal keeper who missed the ball and Chetri took the chance and converted it to a goal. Next Bhutia did a volley to score a stunner which would have stunned the Tajiks. Bhutia was crammed for room. But, still guided the ball to the goal. Then the third goal was Chetri's. The three goals came in the first 20 mins of the first half. Never did I see India play such a fast game and with such vigour. The aggression was seen through out the game. Tajiks Fatkhullo scored the lone goal for the Tajiks in the 43rd minute. The thought of Tajiks fight in second half sent a shiver down my spine. I thought, India would forsake this match yet again. But second half they moved pretty well. Steven Dias missed a chance which hit the goal post. Then in the 75th minute, Sunil netted the hat-trick goal. This could well be his moment.

Bhaichung Bhutia was elbowed by some guy from Tajiks whose name I well couldn't remember. Blood was oozing and the refree was unaware of that which irked Bhutia still more. He was replace by Sushil Kumar Singh. Cheers to Bhutia! India could not have been here without his effort and aggression. But I would have loved to see him play bleeding. This would have sent a message across the world about India's desperation to be a super power and how the player's are contributing for the cause. And the magic moment came. The final whistle. The fans were ecstatic. The Indian players just hopped around the field for the fans frenzied support. Will the victorious path sustain? Only time will tell! But as of it is going India's and Bob's way. May India become a super power in football and qualify for 2014 WC.

I happened to be flipping through some of the photography related website and got inspired to post some of the recent photos that I had snapped. These photos have been a random one with use of different cameras. Some using mobile cams and other using my digiLife cams.

This was shot using ( believe me) Moto Rokr Camera. I was looking around to take some snaps, when I got this view. I took almost 10 snaps to get this.
Shell shocked! This was snapped, er I mean this photo was shot when I went to the beach. I actually intended to take a snap of a sea fish. But it would be ludicrous to have such thoughts when at beach. This was the only sea element (except for water and sand, of course), that I found snapable(lol).
Ahh.. This was the difficult one. This grass hopper somehow landed in the train. And kept hopping here and there. The crowd started jeering me when I was taking this snap. Pity! They don't understand the mind of a budding nature photographer.
This is the photo ehich I took in the Railway Ground aka my den from 4pm to 6pm. The sky simply looks beautiful in this image.

With defeating Wang Chen, ranked 5th in the world, the 15th seeded Saina Nehwal of India booked the quarterfinals berth. Saina Nehwal made a good start to the game with winning the 1st set . Having lost the second set 21-11, she bounsed back like a ping pong ball, routing Wang Chen winning the match and the set 21-9.

Hope that India wins more medals this Olympics. Cheers

First Gold medal in Beijing Olympics for India

Cheers! India has won its first Gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, thanks to Abhinav Bindra. He snatched the Gold in Men's 10m Air Rifle. In the qualification he was ranked 4th. But turned out victorious in the finals. So cheers for Abhinav and India.

India has won the Gold after 28 years. The last time India won the Gold, was for Hockey. But, this is the first individual Gold. So, Kudos to Abhinav and hope this raises others to get medals for India.

Ever wondered what it takes for a hit comic strip? Just a 6 year old boy with wierd imaginative talents and his pet stuff toy Tiger, (rooaaaarrr) Hobbes. Before I go on with my shower of praises over C&H, just answer me this one question: What to do when I catch a Tiger? hmm.. Confused. Read this trip for the answer! Calvin
The name Calvin and Hobbes are synonymous with history. Named after the 16th-century theologian, Calvin is an impulsive, sometimes overly creative, imaginative, energetic, curious, intelligent, and often selfish six-year-old, whose last name is never mentioned in the strip. Despite his low grades, Calvin has a wide vocabulary range that rivals that of an adult as well as an emerging philosophical mind.
His talks seem to be on par with some scientist hooked up with the NASA. His wild imagination suggests his far thought that are unimaginable for his age. The 6 year old kid has wild imaginations going on everywhere: at school, at home and where not. The most comic part would be the monster one :

Hobbes
For everyone's naked eye, Hobbes is nothing more than a dullard stuffed toy. But for Calvin, he is his trustworthy friend. This would describe it much better:But Hobbes sometimes just kids along and jibes Calvin to frustration:
This clip refers to Susan Derkins the new entrant in Calvins class. Calvin has an 'apple eye' on her. But he doesn't like to reveal his feelings thinking that it would be unmanly of him. There could be no other best mate for Calvin than Hobbes.

She is Calvin's crush and she is the only important character who has been given a full name in the Calvin hobbes series. She is a normal civilzed kid and has no wierd imaginations. Susie also has a mischievous streak, which can be seen when she subverts Calvin's attempts to cheat on school tests by feeding him incorrect answers. She is sometimes seen with her favourite stuff rabbit, Mr. Bun.

Principal Spittle is the principal at Calvin's school. It has been implied that, as with Miss Wormwood, Calvin's behavior is the main reason Spittle dislikes his job; Calvin has been to Spittle's office enough times that his file of transgressions is the thickest in the entire district. Spittle's appearances typically come in the last panel of strips that show Calvin misbehaving in class and being sent to his office, where he serves as a foil for Calvin's outlandish excuses for his antics.

Rosalyn
Dear and poor Rosalyn! She is tormented real hard and frustrated to the core by Calvin who hates being baby sitted. Calvin thinks he is a grown up and need not be baby sitted anymore which is the reason why he rebels against Rosalyn. But Rosalyn puts up for Calvins stiff rebels just to earn some pocket money.

88888 Lights out campaign - Need of the hour!

First was Sydney. The London and Mumbai followed it. Now Chennai seems to be next in line. Looking up to create awareness for Global Warming, Light out campaign is set to .. lol.. debut in Chennai. The city-zens are expected to turn off the lights for 8 minutes at the 8th hour in the 8th month of the 8th hour of the 8th millenium. So 88888. It is being spearheaded by Exnoral International's Civl Exnora unit. This might create awareness among people to reduce their consumption of power. But the fact is that with frequent power cuts, do they expect the city-zens to reduce their consumption still more by staying away from the recluse of their AC's and fans. It certainly might ire some people when they are notified of these campaigns. But, in my views, some more reduction in power has to be done. This would ensure less bills and less warming. More than these s off campains, more campaigns have to grip the city to lessen global warming. With the vehicles zooming across the city roads, lots of CO2 ar e released. 'Plant trees' campaign should be encouraged by the government. As an incentive, whoever plants 100-200 plants a year, should be given a 'Tree Lovers' rebate. This would ensure people from planting more saplings and making the city greener. Apart from that, the government has to take steps from preventing felling of trees. If the road has to be put forth, let it take a diversion. Why fell trees, to make a path? Pray for a greener Chennai!

Think of the devil, Devil is blogging

"So, how was your school today?", a lady asked her 6th grader son."Mom, don't ask me that now. Just check out my post on my days rants and ramblings. After you read the post, digg, stumble, favourite it or atleast post me a comment." This what makes a dude or a dame's day. Come back from their workplace and sit in front of the "all knowing machine" and start off with it, as I am doing. Nowadays most of the people have taken up to blogging instead of diary writing. In the days to come they might forget how to write. Atleast, it helps to save some of the trees! Whoever we give a call canvasses his or her blog and asks to comment for the post or digg, stumble or fav it. I try to do that whenever one such opportunity present itself.

First, I came to the blogging zone when I learnt that there were serious earning opportunities from it. But this interest recently lost its touch and instead I shelved the idea of blogging for money and have locked the key and thrown it in an abyss. This whole coterie of paid blogging seems to be an advantage for those in search of some quick bucks. But, in my word it proves nothing but a step or two away from malefic weed which tend to pull you towards it. When the earning opportunities dry out people tend to work out other ways. With this money making in mind, people tend to lose the very edge of blogging. Moreover, by posting the ads for money, it obfuscates others while buying a product. They might not have heard about it. But since review is up on the blog, they might have some positive feeling about the product. But it might be an aweful product, an invention of a dullard. But just by looking at the false reviews they tend to buy the product. This surely has its ill-effect. The true meaning of blogging is to provide correct information to its reader, just like the newspapers do. But with paid bloggin, we sure can't. Moreover, the paid blogging won't give ou the satisfaction as we get from our ramblings about our clique, about the environment and about our personal life. It's upto people what route they tend to take, but paid bloggin is like Devil blogging. Next time, do think twice before going for paid blogging. And even if you do, furnish details that describes the product and donot over exagerate.

India through a flip of coin : Part1

The other day I was thinking, why not post something related to coins. Thats when I stumbled upon the idea of the Indian independence through coinages. So coinage history is what this post series is all concerned about and how it made history. But instead of going through independence, I will start right from the first coin being found in India.

Early coinage were minted out of Gold or Silver. It proved the abundance of gold and silver in those era. This coin was supposedly minted somewhere between 2500 BC and 1750 BC. These were the Mohenjo-Daro excavations. But it still is unknown whether they are seals or coins.

This probably might have laid the foundations for coinage. Some of these were found in other countries indicating the presence of trade in those days. Next is the punch marked coins. They were the first documented coinage and were issued between the 7th-6th century BC and 1^st century AD. These coins are called 'punch-marked' coins because of their manufacturing technique. Mostly made of silver, these bear symbols, each of which was punched on the coin with a separate punch.

Then there were many coins issued as these:

These coins were put forth mainly by the local people for easy trade and used to ersatz the usual barter system which seemed to be getting on the head. These coins had pagan symbols like sun, moon, trees and more. These were the next step in coinages. This is because thay had some definitive shapes and aimed for people of a particular janapadas or small local states. The coins first didn't have any definitive shapes. But gradually it seemed to have a circular, square or rectangular shape.

Then were the coins related to Indo Greek. These coins with their Greek legends are historically significant, as the history of the Indo-Greeks has been reconstructed almost entirely on their evidence. This was supposedly minted between 2BC to 2 AD.

These coins shows that there were established trade links between Indian and the Greece, though I don't think there was a country India then, all were divided amonst separate kingships.

You might be wondering what significance these old coins has got to the title 'India through the flip of coins'. These coins tells the story of ancient India. How they did the trade, the economy which was a rich economy. Those days Gold and silver were usual substances found in abundance. It showed their mutual understanding for trade amongst different civilizations.

A twist in the tale : India wins second test

Kumble should continue
So, the talk amongst our friends proved to be true. As expected, India had won the second test match. Of late, India's test match performance has been predictable. Every time India plays a test series, it loses the first match then performs exceptionally in the remainder of the series. Lots of hiccups in the starts.
The second test match was nothing short of a superior show. Sehwag was his natural and in his own splendour in both the innnings. Impressive. Bhajji doing good taking a 10 wicket haul in the match.

Leadership is action and not position

And Sehwag proved it right. Kumble with his vigour proved that his captaincy is indeed genuine. Nobody could have done better than him at this juncture. Kumble should not retire for some more years atleast. I personally prefer to see him bowl.

All round performance
Bowler's did a good job. But I think, first some praises had to be showered on our batsmen who didn't crack quickly. I personally loved Sehwag swashbuckling knocks and in the second innings liked Karthik giving no respect to Mendis and Murali.
The bowlers were damn accurate and determined to drub the Lankan Lions. Might have enjoyed the loin for their lunch.. LOL. Ishant Sharma impressed and rejuvenated the Indian attack. It was a delight to watch him bowl and especially his specialist delivery that maintains its line after pitching. Then comes Bhajji who got his first wicket in his very first over. In the first over Dravid missed a real difficult chance. But compensated by taking a sharp catch of Jayawardena. Now his total of catches is 176 second to Mark Waugh(181). Laxman took two splendid catches in the slip. His take made it look easy. But believe me! It was not. It was in an awkward position. His total catches is now 102.

Now that Indians were firing like Machine Guns, the fielder backed up their fierce bowlers like a shield taking catches. Even Ganguly couldn't help but tumble to take a splendid catch.

What has Arjuna Ranatunga has to say?
Kumble and his entourage had really hit hard on the Sri Lankans and the lousy Arjuna Ranatunga, who lambasted at India's first test performance. So now what s Arjuna going to do? Another blame game round? LOL. Its hard to understand the administrators and politicians!

So let him be ponder without repose over the loss. But INDIA HAS WON THE TEST.

The Dark Knight's Joker would have impressed everyone and would have saddened everyone with the sudden demise of Heath Ledger. Now, the creators of Batman films have tipped that the Pirate, Johny Depp could be the new nemesis, Riddler in the next Batman movie. Also Phillip Seymour Hoffman might play the role of the Dark Knight's arch enemy, The Penguin. Jim Carrey last played the role of The Riddler in Batman Forever whereas Penguin was Danny De Vito's other face.

Absurd Solar Eclipse stories : But have some deeper meaning

In my tender days, I used to hear some crap stories about the reason behind the occurrance of solar eclipse. This is the story of the churning of the milk-ocean and the descent of Lord Visnu as the Kurma avatara, the divine tortoise. It goes this way :

When the nectar that was churned from this ocean was being served to the gods, a demon, disguised as a god, sat between the Sun and the Moon in an attempt to procure the nectar. When he was detected by the Sun and the Moon, Lord Vishnu immediately severed his head from his body. Unfortunately, it was not fast enough, for the demon had already tasted a small quantity of the nectar and had become immortal. Ever since, this demon is said to wreak vengeance on the Sun and Moon whenever they come near. The head of this great demon is known as Rahu and his tail is known as Ketu. So every time of the year, they try to wreak havoc to seek their revenge on Sun and moon. So they gobble the sun and moon causing eclipse. And due to their inability to digest(may be huh!) they bring them out(in a decent term).

This perhaps sounds like a childish story is a powerful metaphor for what actually happens when an eclipse takes place. Upon further search through the net, I learnt that Rahu and Ketu are the astronomical points in the sky respectively called the north and south lunar nodes.

To the observer on earth, the paths of the sun and the moon appear to be two great circles projected on the celestial sphere (see the diagram). The sun’s path, the solar ecliptic, makes a complete revolution in one year. At the same time, the moon’s circular path is completed in about one month. Every month the moon will overtake the sun which moves more slowly. This is called new moon or in Sanskrit, amavasya. Usually the moon’s path passes above or below the sun’s path and no eclipse occurs. But, periodically the moon overtakes the sun at the place where their paths intersect. This causes the sun or the moon to be hidden from the earth’s view and is thus called a solar or lunar eclipse. These places of intersection are the north and south lunar nodes, or as they are referred to in Hindu mythology, Rahu and Ketu. Therefore, in literal terms of mythology, Rahu and Ketu are said to “swallow up” the Sun and the Moon. The ancient Hindu observers of the sky were aware of the cause of the solar and lunar eclipses and so described the process in the language of metaphor. But people were foolish enough to take it in the literal sense.

India after Day1 play : 214/4

I was having a chat with my friends the other day. And were laughing off at India's starts. Most of the time they lose the first match and come back strong in the rest of the matches. Poor starters. duh.. But something has to be done for their poor starts in the test series.

This is what Kumble said when asked about the series:

"One down is one down, whether you're in Australia or Sri Lanka, so it's a matter of regrouping," said Kumble. "We've done that and spent quality time discussing issues on and off the field, seeing how we can cope and come back. We've done that in the past with the same set of players and there is definitely a lot of experience and resilience in this team.

Thats a nice way to deal the losses. But something has to be done to be back in the series. A new boy cannot maul players of sheer class like Dravid. It's time India rise up to the challenge.
And they did to a certain extent perform. From a real humiliating run totals, they have now scored a decent 214 for the loss of 4 wickets.

Stairway to centurion
Sehwag and Gambhir were slow to start off with their innings. After a real jittery start, they went on till 167 when Gambhir got out. Sehwag was at his best. When Sehwag is in mood, bowler's reputation is totally baseless, absurd, useless and whatever word you want to add, you can. Mendis can do nothing but watch. But he was the one who got the first break through with Gambhirs wicket. Gambhir was dropped at 13. But when score was 167, Mendis bowled a gem of a delivery to trap Gambhir plum in front. Gambhir opted for a review but luck didn't favour him again. This wicket or other wickets didn't matter to Sehwag who continued to score a century to amass 127* runs at the end of the day's play.
Rain Rain Go away, Sehwag's bat wanna sway
Rain had come in between the match to play spoilsport. Sehwag in his devastative mood was unvulnerable almost a demi-God in the field. And rain was some relief for Sri Lankans. But once the rains came off, Sehwag started marauding the bowlers again.

Poor Men(dis)

Bowler's may not always be lucky to topple the batsmen everytime they bowl. That too when Sehwag is at its marauding best. All Mendis can do was to have a look at the ball soaring away to the boundary. But he had something to cheer at the end of the day. He took two important wickets of Gambhir and the struggling Dravid.

Alas! Dravid struggles yet again

By a law in cricketing rules, a batsman is out if "a fielder catches the ball after it has touched an umpire, another fielder or the other batsman. However, it is not a fair catch if the ball has touched a protective helmet worn by a fielder, although the ball remains in play." When Rahul Dravid inside-edged one to forward short leg, he perhaps didn't see that Malinda Warnapura had held on to the chance only after he had first deflected the ball on to his helmet. The umpire wasn't required to make a decision either, because Dravid, who had just passed Sunil Gavaskar in the all-time runs table, walked. Dravid has now faced 32 balls from Mendis, scored three runs, and got out thrice.

End of the day India stands at 214 for 4 with Laxman and the marauder(Sehwag) in the crease. Hope India wins this test.

Future of Cricket : Will the game survive?

The mass turnouts for 20-20's and the ODI reflects upon the appeal of these versions of the game. But in the corner is writhing in pain the real Cricket version; Test Cricket. This version of the game has almost lost its hold on the game. Enthusiasts may be happy watching this version. But, the game has been hit hard and is bruised with the advent of ODI's and 20-20. The Test Match brings out and showcases the talents of the player. How a player approaches the game? How a batsman defends his wicket? How bowlers get the opponent out? But the most important is the spirit of the game.

The ultimate test of playing ability between cricketing nations has been on the rough. This version of the game has brought forth some of the great cricketing minds to the front. But 20-20 and ODI's doesn't prove the mettle of a player. A batsman doesn't have any time constraint. He is free to work his own innings. He has time to settle. And the bowlers have to use their skills to unsettle him. But these days there are not many bowlers who are enthralling to watch.

Is it the skill level that brought the agony to the test cricket or is it the time taking its toll on this version of the game! But those are of less concern. First something has to be done to rejuvenate the game for purist sake atleast.

BCCI has planned a world test series for this reason. Interesting, huh!

The Lord of the Rings has been appealing to the taste of young and old for decades. It no doubt is the BEST classic novels I would have read. The imagination of JRR is such that he creates a whole new world of fantasy with elves, hobbits, humans and more creatures.

Inflation- RBI adopts wait and watch

Inflation has struck hard on daily lives. And what is RBI doing now? The Reserve Bank will meet to review credit policy today, when it will consider a fresh tightening of monetary policy by hiking interest rates. But hiking rates any further may not work because inflation this time has been caused more by external factors — oil mainly — than by internal ones. The RBI has already effected monetary tightening with two repo and one cash reserve ratio (CRR) rate hikes in recent months. Time now to step off the pedal a bit and adopt a wait-and-watch policy.
Inflation is the primary target for the monetary authorities. It should also be the basis for any decision taken by the central bank. But oil prices have eased over the past 10 days. At $120 a barrel, the decline of almost $25 is significant. If consumption slows further, prices could come down more. So, if inflation is largely caused by imported oil price spikes — though not passed on fully to the consumer yet — there is every chance that inflation will cool off correspondingly. Indeed, last Friday’s figure for inflation suggests precisely such a slowdown in the rate of climb.
The way forward for RBI, at this point in time, may be not to raise rates but to let the rupee appreciate a bit. That could bring the inflation rates down by cutting down on the cost of imports and sucking some rupees out of the system. Increasing interest rates now might worsen the existing situation.

The British business tycoon, Richard Branson, has unveiled an aircraft in the US that will be used for his project to launch tourists into space. ~~No more boring times at holiday resorts.~~ Virgin airlines has already been reserved for this galaxial retreat. As many as 250 people have already paid $200,000 to be among the first making the tourist trips. At a time the space ship can relish only six passengers and can accomodate two crew on sub-orbital flights. This will indeed boost the Virgin's presence in the space. Now NASA has got some competition.

The launch ceremony took place in the Mojave Desert at the headquarters of a California-based aerospace company run by engineer Burt Rutan. This is the mother ship used to launch the space vehicle. The mothership , a high altitude jet, will release it in mid air. The maiden space voyage may take place in 18 months. But White Knight Two, as the Galactic traveller has been named, has some rigourous test to undergo. White Knight Two must undergo a rigorous flight testing programme, beginning in the autumn.

This Space sojourn may not be for all. But this is just a beginning. Whatever goes up comes down! This applies to the price for the space travel too. It may come down in the near future and all of them can have a drink or toast in Mars with our dear Martians.

Terror strikes yet again

The Dark Knight's Joker might have created havoc in the Gotham City. But its a fantasy. Just a fiction made up. But day today there are lots of terrorizing going up and spreading in the air. Recently there has been a blast in Bangalore. Totally 6 places where bombarded with crude bombs. Thank God! the intensity of the blast was not much big. So far only one lady had been quoted dead. May her soul rest in peace. Also 15 persons were reported injured.

What do people gain from these disturbances. Do they enjoy creating havoc in peoples mind like what The Joker did to the people of Gotham city. But remember what happened in Mumbai! After the blast people did not get dented with fear. Instead they rose up again and started to travel on the trains from the very next day. What ever be the motives of these people, they are going to fail and they have failed. Now they are trying desperately to get a strangle hold which they never had.

The first blast took place at around 1:30 pm at the Madivala check post in the city. The other blasts have been reported from Adugudi, Ashoknagar, Hosur, Koramangala and Langford town.

MP=Donkey? No way!

After the recent confidence vote polls in the parliament, I wonder is India still democratic? The whole issue has shattered the very roots of democracy. Democracy says "For the people, To the people, By the people". But were these politicians ever interested for people's welfare? Farmers commit suicide because of lack of funds to pay the interests. The UPA government has waivered the loans of some farmers. But not for many farmers who are really suffering. Some farmers whose loans have been waivered are well to do and have no problems as of even if their loans are not waivered. But do they ever worry about these farmers plight? When our own mother India(hope they know that) got its freedom, the democracy setup was adapted and motto was "Jai javan Jai Kisan". But farmers are neglected. They are left to the plight of Yama.

Ohh. I am getting far away from the main cause! During the recent No confidence vote against the government, the MP's were bribed to vote for the ruling. Some were offered to abstain from the voting. ANd many did. Also the MP's were waving wads of notes protesting against the UPA's win. They alleged that they were bribed. Amar Singh was named by all of them. If they really were bribed, then whoever is behind them should be penalised and the party be banned from elections for 10 years atleast in any form. If Congress is behind it, then the party should be banned as well and stripped off the rule. But Indian government has not gone the right path.
It has been favouring these dirty politicians. But its time there is a change. A few good men get into politics and they cant survive and digest the dirt. We can't leave everything to these stupids oopss politicians.

Recently I came upon this image from Times of India newspaper
But one thing that irks me in this image is the portrayal of MP as a donkey. How can they be portrayed as a donkey? They are a species of their own. And how can they insult the donkey's. Its time the donkeys claimed their rights and protested against the Times of Indias edition. And neither is Manmohan singh the cart puller. All those people are nothing but shit loads in search of the hidden money trying to topple each others regime for money sake.

Why so serious? Ha Ha Ha!

In the past few days 'Why so serious?' and the loud cracks have become a fascinating phrase and expression thanks to the Joker. People have been making beelines to the theatres for the Knight of the Gotham City to perform his heroics. The first time when I saw Batman Begins, it brought some thrill in me. But not so in Dark Knight though some scenes were extremely awe inspiring like the first scene in which Joker is introduced. The thrill was compensated for with addiction to the movie. and now I want to watch the movie again. It was something like drug effect which reminds me of the sad(but true) and sudden demise of Heath Ledger who was portraying as Joker in the film. was not able to complete the movie.

His portrayal of Joker was nothing short of "AMAZING". HE was just immersed in the characters feel and brought some humour too with a subtlety at times of being villainous. But I thought the Joker used to be gone in a poof of smoke and it was not so in the film. Never mind. Also Joker brought some cynism. Particularly when he applauds cynnically from behind the bars when Lt James Gordon is promoted as commisioner of Gotham City. The movie was worth $150 million of Producers money which has been made to work to its ends.

Christian Bale was excellent as Batman as he was in Batman Begins. When he rides the Batmobike with his flaps flying it looks great. The cameras behind the scenes has been great. While watching the movie there had been roars around when Joker's introduced, Batman enters the scene or Rachel kisses Bruce or Harvey.

All in all the movie ticket was every paisa of it.
A must watch every fortnight. I am going to be back to the theatres soon to watch it again. So should you.

3G revolution - When will India revolute

3G has been considered the mother of the mobile inventions. The 3G or the 3rd Generation allows us to connect to the net at a whopping speed of 2Mbps max. The speed range is from 115Kbps to 2Mbps. It will break all barriers of networking. People can go from one place to another without any worries of missing out emails at the correct time. Though Mobile GPRS facilities allows a user to connect to the net, the speed takes its toll in user patience. I have used the facility and checked the speed. It comes to a mind boggling 3Kbps..ROFL.. But the mobile carriers are not be blamed. The TRAI has so far not set any guidelines for the 3G. There's been a rumour that the cell carriers are ready to go the time the guidelines are set. The introduction of iphone in India will surely be an impetus. Its next gen, 3G has been released. So whats the difference between an old iPhone and the new 3G one : Apple claims that the new 3G connection will be roughly 2.8 times as fast as the Edge wireless connection on the original iPhone.

The problem with the implementation in India has been the spectrum usage and spectrum pricing which is yet to be set. Now there has been speculations worldwide that 4G phones will be releasin by 2010. This will have capacity of transferring data at a speed of (firewall your heart) 100Mbps.. one movie 700MB can be downloaded in ... LOL.. 10 seconds... puff... 2 years and 4G is to be released. Yet India is lagging with 3G implementation.

Whatever implementation is to be done is to be done apace. With the intent of development of 3G networks in India, there will be some changes in the way we access the net. But care is to be taken not to misuse it or to protect the privacy by the mobile hackers.

3G phones are not just phones but something more. It is more or less like a mobile personal computer.

And beyond and beyond.... Buzz Light Year on command! You might be hooked up to the TV sets watching the cartoons. But suddenly comes the nemesis, your mom. "Up, up and away! Idiot! 21 Yrs of age and yet watching these silly cartoons." Yup! This was just a sample.

People tend to make pun of those adults who are fond of watching cartoons. This is totally unacceptable. What do you then say of those who are making cartoon? They are not kids certainly! Then why such puns on those who watch. Cartoon can be considered a form of art. If people tend to get immersed in the art form, why do other poke in their noses.

Personally I have been watching a lot of cartoon. Last year I finished watching Doraemon. I was ridiculed... But being a cartoon lover I don't mind being ridiculed. If people don't understand you, then let it be. Because they have not understood themselves properly.

Apart from Buzz Light year, Superman, Spiderman has been my favourites. The Manga series, Initial D is also a cool series. Ben 10 is the one I am in awe with as of. And other than these cartoon, I don't like to miss Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, JAckie Chan adventures. Watching Jackie in Tamil channel Chutti TV has been more fun than in CN. The slang being used and the connotations being spread and the stolen dialogues from Tamil movie; JUST AWESOME.

Cartoon hooks up ones imagination. It gives them the power to imagine new things. So, in the future, it is advisable for the less fortunates to avoid making pun of anyone cartoons.

Hope is one of the most powerful forces in the universe. The Apostle Paul ranked it in the top three God-given qualities that are eternal: "Faith, hope, and love abide, these three..." (I Cor 13:13)

So, how do we hang on to hope no matter what? First of all, we must ask God to give us his hope and to help us see life through his eyes. Our perspective is often limited and short-sighted, but God sees the big picture. After he created the universe, God said: "It is good!" Even though sin entered the world, God had a plan to redeem the world. God always has a plan. He is the eternal optimist who seems to specialize in turning even the worst situations around for our good. (Rom 8:28)

Second, we need to stop focusing on problems and watch for solutions. The Enemy will always point out the negative and try to get us to give up. Satan will remind us of our past mistakes and invite us to condemn ourselves; if we let him, he will get our eyes off Jesus and convince us that our situation is hopeless. Nothing could be further from the truth. We Christians are children of the most high God. With God on our side it doesn't matter who is against us. We are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ - he has already won the victory.

Finally, we must trust God to do what we cannot. If we rely on our own power it is easy to become discouraged. There are many things in life beyond our control, but nothing God can't handle. Paul said, "Whenever I am weak, then I am strong." (II Cor 12:10) Many times when the glass seems half empty, it is only because God plans to fill it to overflowing as we trust him. When asked about the man born blind, Jesus said this happened so that a work of God could be performed in him. Do we trust God to work through our weakness?

Why not ask God to give you his perspective, tell Satan to take his negativity and get lost, and then trust God to turn evil into good? Hope in God and watch to see what he will do. He will not disappoint you. God has great things in store for you - beyond anything you can imagine!

Guys, This post has been pending for long. I wanted to post it on the eve of 25th anniversary of our world cupp winning.. But could not for certain reasons. now I post this. Let the Sith prevail.

Indian cricket has come along way since the first match recorded match in 1721 that was played among some sailors in Western India. The first test match was played by the Indian national team much later in 1932 at Lord’s and it has been a long and fulfilling journey till date. Indian cricket has evolved into a much bigger proportion than simply a ‘gentleman’s game’. In India it is more of a religion where the players are the gods. The passionate fans of Indian cricket are spread across the globe and they indulge in idol worship when the players win a match against the rival team. The same fans can however demolish their gods when the performance has been poor and a match has been lost, especially against equally popular rivals like Pakistan, Sri Lanka or even Australia.

Traditionally the Indian team has been much stronger on home grounds than abroad and a track record of only 35 matches won out of the 196 matches played against Australia and England in the first fifty years of Indian cricket, prove this point to a certain extent. The emergence of legendary figures like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev in the Indian cricket scene saw India emerge as a formidable team in the international scene. Indian cricket made its mark in the world cricket scene by winning the prestigious World Cup in 1983 under the able captaincy of Kapil Dev. Some of the leading cricketers in the world are a part of the Indian cricket team. International players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble who hold many world records have added more feathers to the Indian cricket cap.

A good and successful speaker must be aware two important things : the content and structure of his speech. The speech must contain the right and relevant information and presented in a manner that sustains the audience's attention. A successful speaker also knows how much information the audience can absorb in one sitting without losing interest. The presentation must be cogent with a logical beginning and an appropriate ending. It must be sequenced and paced so that the audience truly enjoys the speech. The speaker must not digress too much and lose the main thrust of his speech.

The voice is probably the most valuable tool for any speaker. The listeners may have difficulty and feel uncomfortable hearing voices that are too fast, too loud, too soft, etc. A good speaker knows how to modulate his voice without changing the original nature of his voice. Experienced speakers lower their voice to draw the audience in, and raise their voice to stress a point. A voice that carries fear can frighten the audience, while a voice that sounds humorous can get the audience to smile and remain cheerful. Your body communicates different impressions to the audience. People not only listen to you, they also watch your body language. Adopting a good posture tells your audience that you know what you are doing and you care deeply about it. Also, a good posture helps you to speak more clearly and effectively.

If you fail to gesture while speaking, you may be perceived as a bit stiff and monotonous speaker. Instead a lively speaking style captures attention makes the speech more interesting, and facilitates better understanding. Smiling while speaking is a powerful method to transmit happiness and spread warmth. Smiling is also contagious and others will react favorably. They will be more comfortable around you and will want to listen to you more. Lean forward when speaking as it gives hearers the impression that you are receptive, and amiable. Interpersonal closeness results when you and your audience face each other. Speaking with your back turned or looking away from the audience should be avoided as it communicates disinterest. The main negative factors of a speaker can be diffidence and nervousness which can affect voice clarity, posture, and spontaneity. The voice begins to tremble, shoulders tighten up and legs start to shake and cause unsteadiness. Always allow time at the end of the speech for listeners to raise questions. After inviting questions, do not rush ahead if no one asks a question. Pause for a while to allow the audience to regroup their thoughts. When a question is asked, repeat the question to ensure that everyone hears it and also to make sure you heard it right. When answering, direct your remarks to the entire audience and not merely to the questioner. Answers that last up to 40 seconds work best. If they are too short, they seem abrupt; while long answers appear too elaborate. If you are invited to deliver special speeches or keynote addresses, then you need to take time to prepare. Speeches, on such occasions, must follow a format ï¿½" and preferably contain interesting anecdotes, pleasant humor, quotations etc to sustain audience interest. Most of us are aware of the power of an audience. It is often a frightening experience when looking at of several pairs of eyes looking at us expectantly and in silence. It takes a little courage, but the rewards are enormous. Whether you are managing a business, heading an institution or running a home, you need leadership qualities to excel. Once you are able to see what others expect of you, then you can move on to developing all essential skills of leadership such as good communication skills, gift of expression, ability to think spontaneously, sense of humor, compelling presence etc.

Travel Diary 2 : To the beach again

Last time I had gone to the ECR beach, that was around 4:00 PM. We actually left home at around 3:30PM. This time I went with a different group of people with different ideologies. And the main reason to go to the beach so early! To take snaps of sunrise.

Saturday night thrillers

There had been two thrillers this saturday.... WAT A NIGHT THAT WAS FOR THE ROYAL CHALLENGERS AND KINGS XI... They held their nerves and pulled off the match at the brink of a loss. Here in Kings XI the crucial bowling by Yuvi who took 2 wickets and Marsh(81) and Pomersbasch(79*) were the real heroes. The last over saw the balance shifting with every ball from one side to another. There were 3 run outs, the best one being the last run out when the Mumbai Indians's needed 2 run off the last ball, took a go and saw Yuvi diving full to dislodge all three stumps to get the team home... Great effort...

And the RC vs Super Kings match.. The credit goes to Kumble, Steyn for his 19th over and Praveen Kumar who even after being hit for run consolidated in the end... Also the main credit should go to the Chennai Batsmen for the valiant effort(:-) )... This was not the time for CSK to be relaxed.. They were going great guns with 40 from 4 overs... But in the end they needed 16 runs from an over chasing a meagre total of 127 in 20 ovrs. ... Anyway, I wanted CSK to lose...

and Mumbai to lose too... This will make a great stage for further matches where every team will be fighting with swords and shields...

Now the real test starts...

There has been a big outcry for scraping the death sentence from the penal law. Homo homini lupus! this so far has proved right. When a human kills human, he is given death sentence, life imprisonment or some other sever punishments. But why not punish for killing animals? Why not jail people for killing cows, hen etc. Even they have life. If there is no punishments for killing animal why should there be for killing humns??

Much ado of something gives you nothing. Being played daily daily, the IPL is somewhat getting oneself bored. Not all teams are strong as purportedly reported at the start. 3-4 teams are wet behind their ears and just could manage 2 vics. The other teams are now fighting for semis berth. Instead they should have had 5 teams itself. Everytime Bangalore team goes on field, its been pleasure for the opponent. RC and DC will take themselves from a safe spot to the abyss. Now the IPL is becoming predictable. We can tell which team will win! This is boring ---( Hope next IPL makes the team evenly balanced

This movie is in reply to the movies of same genre Saw and Hostel. This movie is unrated and uncut and an horror movie outright. This movie is being screened in select theaters only and here is the select theater listings. The Trailer gives an impression of more gory scenes than Saw and Hostel series of movies. The movie is about people who try to run away from their problems. But they end up facing bigger problems. Some of the scenes in the Trailer were gruesome. Particularly the one in which the person butchers with an axe and an old man cuts the ankle of the guy. The trailer gives a brief idea of the story. There is an uprising somewhere and the two accused flee away. They get to some wierd place. They come to know of the horrors of the place and try to flee. But to be caought in the horror. The movie is releasing in theaters on May 9th and in DVD's on May 13th.

But for the movie is unrated, it is releasing in theaters which usually doesnt make to theaters.

Homo homini lupus! Switch on the idiot box and you could find so many crisis the world over: the Darfur crisis, the China's stand against the journalist (particularly blame the Yahoo group for that), and many more.

The arrest of Shi Tao proves to be te Chinese governments suppression of the peoples rights. And what about illegal detentions at the Guantanamo bay by the US??? What of the illegal occupation of Palestine by Israel???

The people of Darfur are in much more pathetic conditions. It all began with the attack on Chad's capital, N'Djamena, in late January 2008. Since then there has been a widespread human rights violations in Chad and CAR, including the targeting of opposition leaders, journalists and human rights defenders in Chad, and kidnappings of civilians - including children - in CAR, are long-standing and pervasive. Armed conflict and instability in Chad is exacerbating these dangerous conditions and forcing Chadian refugees into Darfur. At the same time, Janjawid militia, and Sudanese and Chadian rebel violence has poured into Chad from Darfur, along with a massive influx of refugees from Darfur and CAR, followed by their attackers. This has further endangered Chadian civilians.

Similarly there has been lotta conflicts... Guantanamo Bay has got a film dedicated for it... But what about others???? What about the regional crisis the world over???? When will the people have a sigh of relief????

It's time when the world took a firm stand against the cruel intentions of these hypocrites!!

This site is totally different from other sites in its class. And why? The design is different which lures you... The homepage shows opportunities in a sliding window format. AT LAST ... I have finished my UG studies. and am free now... Or has my freedom been ripped apart now?? Now i have finished my UG studies and have to plan the future.... Oh heck...
No more of those days when i could bunk the college and go for sympos( Only in IV YR though).

As for the xams i have finished it... And after the xams now i am feeling so bored that i wished to go to coll again as 10hr goes by going to coll, sleeping there and coming back... apart from having fun oer there...

But i had lotta cherishable moments.. the one i liked the most was wen i abused the staff out loud(by mistake ofcourse)....

And the one i hated the most was wen i got out in the dept cricket match and dropped a catch in the boundary running backwards... it was not a easy catch though.. i wanted to win the the match and was real raring to go... but it waS a real flop.. minor setbacks, happiness, friendship, etc etc ... this is my college life which i could never forget in my lifetime

IPL have so far lured kids and old alike with the sixes and fours raining from the BLASTING BLUDGEONS of the batsmen. As of there has been around 190 4's and 92 6's. The emphatic response shown by the crowd would be the most heart warming sight and a proud moment for the jerks from BCCI. ICL on the other hand would be having butterflies on their stomach with their fate hanging on balance and the ICL players would be still more worried ones!!1

But with all these things in the foreground, one thing has gone in the background.... that is the spirit of the game... not from players ofcourse.. everyone have so far played with spirits and in limits (if u think Sreesanth was Shanth that day). .. i am talking about the crowd.. The crowd is really been boisterous throughout. But one thing that hit me most was that, Sehwag notched up a fine HALF CENTURY.. Raised his bat to acknowledge the crowd only to find that the crowd is not interested to acknowledge his 50...Why??? It was the Hyderabad crowd..Poor guy Sehwag had a real embarrassing moment .. He was almost pleading raising his bat then shrugging to the crowd...

I think the league thing has hit too hard in the hard core fans... They are now supporting their home crowds instead of acknowledging a fine play from players...

Recently I read an article in TOI. Indian American Actor Kal Penn (recent flick 'Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay'), has been supporting Barrack Obama for US Presidency. He is also spreading the message in schools and colleges all over the US. Like Jessica Alba, Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen and Will Smith he has become a pro - activist for Obama's Presidential dreams. There is nothing wrong in supporting him. But the one thing that really gets me sick is that he is reported to have said that Obama is as inspiring as MAHATMA GANDHI...!!!!!

Think of Mahatma's stature. No one could come leagues near to Mahatma. He gave up his desires and luxury for the sake of Indian freedom. Obama may be a good leader, I am not criticizing him. He may be a good person too, WHO KNOWS(LET HIM BECOME THE PRESIDENT. PEOPLE WILL COME TO KNOW OF THE TRUE COLORS. AND EVEN IF HE WANTS TO DO SOMETHING GOOD, POLITICS COMES TO PLAY). But comparing him to Mahatma, Kal Penn is really exaggerating. Obama beware!! Kal Penn wants something from you! Beware of the false impressions.

Why I am saying this is b'cos, suppose a war is at hand then Obama won't just shy off from it! Unlike Mahatma, of course!

Curtain Raiser : IPL flags off with cool entertainers and a nice cricketing stuff

Starting off the whole one and half month extravaganza with entertainers. Shankar Ehsan Loy gets the audience in tune with his music quotient. Then comes the much awaited by us all. THE CHEERLEADERS... The music is so convivial and their performance is simply mind-blowing. Bangalore Royal Challengers would be up and raring to go for the sake of their cheerleaders atleast. Laser show is the topping in their superior performance. It just got me up on my chair. I would have loved to be there in the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

But the trio Jadeja-Sivaramakrishnan-Raja kept barging in at the right..oops wrong moments and spoilt the whole show. There was lotta fad for the cheerleaders.

The start of IPL was somewhat in the lines of the ICL: the glamour quotient, music, fun. But the IPL does the glamourous extravaganza in a much bountiful manner with lots of fireworks, light shows and later in the day fireworks from the batsmen.

Then comes the Captains of the IPL teams and signing of the IPL Spirit of the game. After signing Sharad Pawar, Sunny Gavaskar and Lalit Modi start speaking the usual crap. After that is the Laxman Sivaramakrishnan's "Mokkai" Pitch report. Then the much awaited --- TOSS which Rahul Dravid wins and puts Kolkata Knight Riders to play.
Praveen Kumar starts the first over and bowls a good delivery to Ganguly and 1 run from leg byes. Then comes a craker from the second over from McCullum who initially was facing problems with Praveen Kumar tidy 1st over. First four and six in the name of Brandon McCullum. Then to stall the run rate, Zaheer took the first wicket of the league in the form of Ganguly. Some good moments to watch : First wicket, first four and six, a good save from the old spinner Sunil Joshi(He was outta limelight for long? That's why. it hap to be a revelation of seeing him on field. ) Bowlers gonna face the wrath of the blade. Bludgeoned all round the field. This is what gonna happen in the league THROUGHOUT.

The first innings proved to be a fierce one with a fiery and racy batting from McCullum who happened to be the first centurion of the league- one hella batting from him, particularly the shot in which he dismantled Noffke behind the wickets.

Overrall, the Royal Challengers were given a uphill task of chasing 223 runs by the Knight Riders. The Knight Riders showing their tremendous skill like the car Knight Rider in the serial of the same name. And the Rider's wrath being that from McCullum's bludgeon with a dazzling, exciting, mind blowing knock of 158 runs. Royal Challengers shown their blues by McCullums BIG BANG.

Royal Challegers had a poor start losing their early wickets and easy to predict their loss at the hands of the Knight Riders courtesy McCullum's blitzkrieg 158 off 73 balls.

Royal Challengers had too much of Royal Challenge. Might have been sponsored by Mallya.

Guys with such performance in the first match of the league, IPL is going to be a real hit with the masses and sure it is going to be by seeing the crowd turn-out in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. It was Jam Packed. ICL BEWARE! You have got lot to lose...

And one more thing.. IPL could be the media to bond the players from different countries and stop any disputes and debacles like the one in Australia recently when India toured over there.

MOVIE REVIEWS BY A FILM CRITIC : SANTOSH SUBRAMANIAM - LOVE MAKES LIFE BEAUTIFUL

First of all I would like to ask (the director of course) "WHY?????". This movie was nothing but a mini Pulsar DTSi ad. Only thing that I liked in the movie was the interval and the end. And you might have wondered why I sat through the whole movie!! To make this post possible ofcourse.
The movie is a remake of Telugu movie Bommarillu in which Siddharth had given a credible performance.

PUNCHLINE

Santosh(Jayam Ravi) son of Subramaniam(Prakash Raj) is like a bird in the cage. His dad always interferes in whatever he does, right from buying a shirt to his career and his life too.He chooses a girl for him whom Santosh doesn't like but he has no other go. His father does everything for him "with" 'love' but that loves strangles him more and more as he loses his free will. Then he gets to know Haasini(Jenny Lia) and falls in love with her.

When his father comes to know he cajoles his father to get her home for 7 days and says they would like her for sure. Just to prove his son wrong Subramaniam accepts. 6 days passes with lots of supposed to be fun and comedy and emotions when Haasini leaves on her own. Reason You gotta see that for sure. One hella flick.

A scene ensues and Subramaniam is made to realise his mistakes. He accepts for the marriage of Subramaniam and Haasini. Thats 5 mins to the end.

Storyline is somewhat OK. But the acting sucks and gets you intoxicated and possibilities of having a nightmarish dream on the day you watch the movie.

The actors try to crack jokes, get emotion quotient, etc. But fail real hard in their attempt.
I almost went flat in my seat watching this movie. The ice cream during the interval cooled me. And I was real determined to watch this movie out of frustration as I had come with my friends. And we didn't miss even a minute of the movie right from the start till the curtain fall.

Dialogue sucks, acting sucks, direction sucks, comedy sucks, what more do you want to rank this movie 1 on a scale of 5. Wondering why 1/5 after the inital spat on the movie? 1 mark for Jenny Lia even though her acting was real irritating.

Next time Jenny never try to act innocent. And Ravi you dance well but need dance can't fill theatres, so try to better ur acting. Prakash Raj was kinda OK. He tries to gives his best always. Ravi's mother in the film, don't know her name though, kinda irritates. Everyone tries their level best to irritate the audience and the award for best irritator goes to 'JAYAM' RAVI with his INCREDIBLE emotional acting. Another suggestion for director: Don't waste producers money for these kinda movies.

This is my first movie review and I was in a mood to criticize. So selected this movie for the review.

Guys one more thing Sadagopan Ramesh was in the film and might have hardly spoken a couple of sentences and his character was useless. I think the director has to justify the characters he dumps in his movies before accepting a movie script.

With just a day to go for the curtain raiser of IPL matches, BCCI is getting things on the track. The fixtures are advertised, the teams are assembled, the prize money's ready ($3m), the adverts are airing, the public are salivating. Only the bowlers - who face a regular pummelling in the power-orientated twenty20 format - are viewing it with slightly less than total enthusiasm. Bowlers are on the wrong side of the wicket facing the bludgeon, hearing to the sweet musical note of the ball hitting the bat,PERFECT, and soaring high up and away to the boundary. This version of game is bowler's nightmare and bowlers would be thinking and cursing themselves to have chosen their profession.

MEDIA PROBLEM

While newspapers may be delighted that restrictions imposed on them have been lifted, websites have been left in the cold, and it seems no issue at all for IPL chairman Lalit Modi and the BCCI.

The deadlock over the IPL's media coverage ended on Monday following a meeting between the organizers of the Twenty20 tournament and editors from leading newspapers in Mumbai. While the print media got relief on the use of images and the number of reporters and photographers who will be granted accreditation to cover matches in the tournament, websites like Rediff.com and Cricinfo were cold-shouldered.

Adding insult to injury, the IPL has decreed that websites can cover pre-match and post-match press conferences, but their reporters and photographers will not be allowed into the press box when the actual matches are on.

Further, websites are not allowed to upload any pictures of the tournament, and news agencies have been banned from selling pictures to websites.

Climbing down from its earlier stand that newspapers would not be allowed to put up pictures on their websites, the IPL has conceded that newspaper websites can upload six different pictures on their portals, in addition to the pictures have been published in their print edition. They have also been allowed a maximum of two reporters and photographers for each game.

Don't you think this somewhat resembles the FIFA '06 norms. But the association had to give in.

Cant get the connection? Hmmmm!! These are the Indian wax sculptures in the Tussaud's with Hrithik being the new addition.

It was quite a honor and pride for all Indian's when Mahatma's and Big B's wax sculpt was kept in the world famous wax museum. Of the wax scupture in the Tussaud's wax museum, first was that of Mahatma Gandhi. Then Big B, King Khan and then Ash. Madame Tussaud's museum, I think is fantasised by the bollywood masala craps that they are making wax museum of these people. I am not saying that they should not make sculpts of them. They are creditable in their own field : Big B, Shah Rukh are actors of an aura. But the obsession continue for cine field. I am a movie maniac myself. But with more wax sculpts being made of cine stars, few years and Tussaud's will have only Cine wax sculpts in their museum.
And what's now? Hrithik's gonna find a duplicate in the museum. And why Hrithik? For his fan following all over the world and the sculptor would be real happy to Sculpt his Wax muscles. Hrithik who's has soared to new heights with his decent performances post some of his crap movies(though his performance in Fiza was marred mainly bcos of his marriage and his girl fans got cross) has found himself among top movie actors and Krrish and Dhoom 2 would have done the trick to lure the Sculptors of the wax Museum.
If you remember Salman was offered for the same, who dutifully turned down the offer. With this the number of Indian Wax Sculptures in the Tussaud's goes to 5.

Why don't they make a wax sculpture of our renowned Lalloo or Laaloo? Isn't he good enuf?

Chelsean hopes dashed, ManU up for PREMIERSIP

Grant Avram took over the reins from Jose Mourinho and has done a real creditable job so far. But now his Premier League hopes have been dented by Heskey's late surging goal in the injury time. The Chelsean fan's hopes were dashed and ManU even without playing that night had were the winners of the night. Why? Now they have a 5 point lead with just 4 matches to go for the premiership. And ManU scored a 2-1 against Arsenal the day before.
The first half of the game saw a mediocre out of form Chelsea making lots of mistakes with missed opportunities. Chelsea could have done better which it repents now. Frank Lampard had been out of the game even before the kick-off. But the reserve players are good enough for Chelsea to deal the Wigans. Wigan showed endurance in the first half by braving the best players of Chelsea. The goalkeeper of Wigan Chris Kirkland showed an extreme sporting stuff by his efforts near the nets and saving lots of goals for Wigans.
But the second half saw a better planned Chelsea surging forward who were roaring with passing seconds and creating opportunities which was well averted by the Wigans. The goal opportunities were created by Joe Cole in 49th minute which was well handled by Kirkland. Then Terry's kick hit the crossbar, and Chelsea were outta luck again. But came the blow for Wigans in th 55th minute with a Essien goal courtesy a good effort from Cole who passed the ball to Anelka who wasted the chance by slipping over but made a clever pass to Essien who netted the ball.
Cole almost netted the ball in the 77th minute but was out of mark by few inches. With 3 minutes to time, Wigans gave a wake up call by almost netting the ball courtesy Wigan sub Antoine Sibierski Cech came to rescue again. But their lack-lustre performance was taken to the advantage of Wigans with the injury time goal by Heskey with a well directed pass from Jason Koumas off close range.

With the game drawn, the Chelsea have almost lost their claim to the Premier League. With this game Chelsea are at 75 behin ManU(80) and ahead of Arsenal(71).
Also Chelsea were booed by their own fans after their horrid day on field.
But Grant has reaffirmed that this is not the end of Chelsean hopes with them have to win the game against Everton and ManU. Now Grant was robbed by the absence of Lampard and Drogba who could have posed more threat on the Wigans.
But the ManU fans are happy with the result and SO AM I.

THIS IS THE DODGE VIPER SRT 10 ACR

The Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR (the second acronym is short for American Club Racer) was developed by Chrysler's Street and Racing Technology skunk works. At its core, the SRT development team consists of a host of former racers and race engineers - men whose sums include everything from SCCA competition to the 24 Hours of Le Mans - and, with the exception of the occasional Caliber, nearly every car they've touched has been a boon to the enthusiast driver.

All of that hardware adds up to one thing: the Viper ACR is fast. Damn fast. It's also remarkably controllable and the single most cost-effective way to shred racetrack asphalt this side of a six-man crew and a bulldozer. As with all Vipers, spine-flattening thrust is available anywhere on the tach; that monstrous V-10 simply pulls, no matter what you ask of it. Thanks to the enormous increase in grip, underwear-curdling cornering speeds come up without even trying. Oddly enough, the base Viper's relatively quiet exhaust is retained, and ride quality is fairly respectable. As a result, you're initially a little confused - the ACR is balanced like a race car. It's odd, but ultimately comforting.

Having one such car.. man i am going nut's by the very thought of it and bit saddened at the thought of having one (by chance). Reason: Indian roads suck real bad. Race machines are not for Indian roads. Only few road routes might be peppy enuf to help the driving enthusiasts. A 150 cc bike(PULSAR BAJAJ) itself is too much for Indian road. What wud be the case of this charging bull???

But guys with new car manufacturers targeting Indian markets there are possibilities of Govt improving roads. Already BMW has set up factories in India.

But guys it wud be a treat for me if I have a go in AUDI TT , VIPER or CARRERA(it's old! but i like it). As of I have to be satisfied with my dad's SX4, but it's cool. And can rev up to 180kph... my car touched that speed... may be the top speed's more which i didn't check..

All of todays cell phones are equipped with a rechargeable battery. One of the most important features is how long your battery will hold, both while you are using the phone and while it is on stand-by.

And don’t you hate it when it runs off exactly when your girlfriend makes a call or you are getting a call from your recruiter or any such important situations?

Well, apparently these kind of things happened also to the guys from Motorola, because they decided to develop the first cell-phone that is rechargeable on solar energy. Well it seems like this phone recharges itself taking energy from the sun through the LCD screen. Not to mention that alternative energy sources such as solar energy are the energy sources of the future. It sounds like Motorola have bought themselves place there.

But guys think how much of use it will be when launched in India. With guys like me who are lazy enough to put the cell on charge, it's a revelation. And the prospects are real high.

Bluetooth headsets have now become kinda fashion statement. People like the look in others face when the someone uses these wireless devices. But guys, some hate being the centre of attraction but love for new gadgets can't be put off. For them here's a new model of Bluetooth headset,PILLETE. Pillete, the new concept of Bluetooth headset is so tiny, it’s almost invisible to the untrained eye when you are wearing it. So no one's gotta worry anymore about looking like Bond when walking down the street with it, but you have to consider the possibility of people starting to think you’ve lost your marbles(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and you’re talking to yourself. For those people it might be revelation when they come to know of this product.

The disagreeable fact is that people have different sized ears and the device might be too small and slip out or too big and not fit. We have been having the same problem with earphones too. This is just a beginning. More is yet to come. Once they figure out a way to make the Pillete adjustable, this design will be the future of all headsets.

Hope I won't have to burn my pockets to buy this. Let this be an affordable one unlike BOSE headsets which are staggeringly priced and not for common people's use.

But in India as of the more common affordable bluetooth headset will rule the roost. And if at all it is launched in India it's gonna be damn expensive. But this is a model which will delight gadget enthusiasts like me!!!!!!!!!

India has got the blend of various art forms. Music for instance are of various types and notions.The music of India can be divided into classical, folk music, Qawwali and of late indi-pop.
Classical Music
The tradition of classical music can be found in Hindustani and Carnatic.
Hindustani music was popular since the vedic times. The practice of singing based on notes was popular even from the Vedic times where the hymns in Sama Veda, a sacred text, was sung as Samagana and not chanted.
Carnatic music is based on historical developments that can be traced to the 15th - 16th centuries and thereafter. From the ancient sanskrit works available, and the several epigraphical inscriptional evidences, the history of classical musical traditions can be traced back to about 2500 years.

Folk Music
Folk music is followed in the ethnic regions. Some folk music forms wud be rajasthani, dandiya, rabindra sangeet, lavani, bauls, bhangra, bhavageetee... It has it's own following

Qawwali
Qawwali is a Sufi music form. The qawwali became so popular in 1970 -90's that many qawwali's featured in the bollywood muvees. The notes are exciting to hear.

Indi - pop
This caters the younger generation of today who are inspired by the western music with a deafening outputs from the juke box.

But best of all those traditional music, some of the music directors in Indian films blend the carnatic and other forms of music that the score just bowls you out..

But guys beware ... many music directors copy the western music scores....
The same happens every where though...
But genuine talents can be found anywhere....

It’s like the people world over have been raring to protest against the Chinese government. With the Olympic torch going on a worldwide relay, fresh anti-Chinese protests are surfacing as a result of the China’s policies towards Sudan and Tibet. Already it had faced a torturous run in the Paris leg of the relay,where the torch was put off for 4 times.

Next, it goes to the Americas. San Francisco is going abuzz with the olympic torch protests already starting off. Three people climbed the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and tied banners that read “One World One Dream Free Tibet” and “Free Tibet”. More protest are expected in the US where the torch is to arrive on Wednesday.

While the Indian government has decided to play safe. Indian government is now taking stringent measures to avoid any embarrassment. It has reaffirmed the Chinese government for a trouble free relay in the sub-continent. There been a buzz that the Indian government is opting for a Republic Day like Security for the Delhi leg of the relay. Only a few 100 students from Delhi schools are supposed to be a part of the relay and the relay is expected to go on a motorcade if need be to avoid any debacle. Also the government has warned the Teacher’s and students of the Tibetan school’s in India against anti - Chinese protests. With hostility all over the globe even before the start of the event, Chinese government has to take fast actions. It is now left with 3 options : One,continue with a hostile Olympic; Two, FREE TIBET and change its policies over Sudan; Three,SCRAP the event.

With protest all over the world, Indian non-ruling parties will love to demoralize the government attempts by staging protests. So, let’s wait and see what new thing surfaces in the Delhi leg, as the torch is supposedly jinxed for receiving protests from every corner.

India as you all know is the land of Ganges, the river that purifies one’s soul. It’s the land of Gandhi who led the nation to freedom with an enigmatic word ahimsa. It’s the land that refurbished and reinvented the very enigma of ahimsa(non-violence). It’s the land of Ram. It’s the land where some great king and artists were born. Now it’s the land of IT. Booming like hell, it’s is now the land which is famous for it’s ever-growing economy. And the government has started out it’s propaganda,India Shining , shelling out hefty sums and for what reason???Is there any respite for the citizens?? Nothing??Just a thumb-down for them! The slogan was actually developed by the BJP led government for the 2004 elections. There’s been a rumor that the BJP - led government then spent an estimated 20 mn dollars of government funds on national television advertisements and newspaper ads featuring India Shining slogan. And for what reason??? Was there any shining features. It was just a silver lining during the whole turmoil - Indian It companies boom and many getting good white-collar jobs earning hefty sums of money. But was there really any difference made due to the campaign? Who were benefitted by the campaign? Was there any decrease in poverty level? Oh yeah if you put forth the same questions to our very own elected representatives, don’t expect an ingenuous reply( Everyone knows about our beloved Politicians,Bear with me). Pop!! The answer will be almost blurted out as soon as the question is put forth “We have built roads, widened the existing” ” We are linking river’s” “Can’t you see our economy is booming”. Hell lot of crap answers incipiates which is incongruous of the original situation.And what’s that? It’s the very own poverty crisis which is so prevalent and has been on rise. These politicians talk about such nonsense. If they dont do it just stop going away from the truth - Why shy off?? Every place you see, you could spot homeless people unable to fend to themselves. Not even able to get hold of rudimentary needs - food,water and clothing. In my views, government should stand up for more meaningful causes like poverty by helping those people with a job. Fine, infrastructure is analogous and a must with technological growth. But that should not come at the cost of human welfare. There’s a latin saying - Homo homini lupus(Man is a wolf to man). I think the time has come to stop comparing wolf with man. Man has taken long strides ahead that he is more vile and cunning than a wolf.

With the poverty level on the rise and the government’s efforts in rising it still more by increasing the costs of basic commodities, do you still think INDIA SHINING!!!!!

From the beginning of humankind’s time on the earth, for about 250,000 years, conflicts between individuals and groups have been settled on the basis of force, or domination or submission. In time, the use of force became more or less rationalized.

While in all societies throughout history, there must have been men and women who, by reason of superior intelligence were able to compensate for lack of strength by more innovative means, it has not been until the relatively recent past that an organized third way of addressing conflict emerged. It is to this third way that neglected throughout the human time frame. This third way being (an insipid word to many) ahimsa. In a world of superpowers armed with unthinkable weapons, the search for alternative means of defense and changing the social structures has become an absolute necessity.

Ahimsa is not a new concept. Nonviolence is not a new, untried, pie-in-the-sky, tilting at windmills idea, held by a bunch of pietistic do-gooders. It’s one of the tenets of the religions that originated in India (particularly Jainism, which abhors killing of even miniscule creature accidently and trying means to avoid it). It’s been there forever lost in the pages of time and space, neglected over centuries and finally rose like phoenix and is now an enigmatic topic to talk about.

It is important to know at the outset that nonviolence has absolutely nothing to do with passive acceptance or acquiescence to evil done to a person or nation.Nonviolence can be considered as the art of seeking alternatives to violence in conflict, for conflict is inevitable in life. While history is replete with instances of creative action without violence, there are not many incidents of organized nonviolence on record.The sort of militant nonviolence seems to have more or less begun with our very own Mahatma Gandhi. The west was interested in him at times, but cared little for his queer,onerous ideas. Winston Churchill once passed a satirical remark calling him a ”half-naked fakir”. And why?? He was the one leading masses against Brit rule and fought for their freedom,his freedom. And gave up his luxury,life and soul for this cause. This is to point out the fact that people at that time never believed that the British roots could be weeded out of the Indian soil without violence. People adjudged his claim as farcical. British passed on facetious remarks of his so-called ahimsa theory and took him for granted. What’s next? They lost their colony - India. But this took time. Better late than never. But did the 1857 revolt prove to be useful? It’s somewhat rekindled the need for freedom in the mind’s of the Indians and there has been revolt for almost a century thereafter till the independence. Then for more such examples take Martin Luther King Jr. ’s example, who was a staunch follower of Mahtma’s ideologies and, and… I couldn’t find some more suitable examples. And we read ahimsa is from the time’s unknown!!!

It has its own advantages.But ahimsa is not a quick-fix, nor a panacea for all the ills of the world.Ahimsa is not a weapon without cost, but has its price that its users must pay. As in the case of India, where unarmed people resisted the military, sometimes the price is equivalent to the price that is expected in instances of violence, because the privileged do not give up their privileges without a struggle. And what did Gandhi get with ahimsa?? Wrath of the Yama!!! At least the poor old man died in peace. But now do still people think they would follow the ideologies of Gandhi, who is in everyone’s lips; thanks to gandhigiri refurbished by Sanjay Dutt in Lage Raho Munnabhai?? I don’t think so. Everyone is taught about ahimsa in social science,moral studies,in movies etc. But do children take up ahimsa?? Did I ?? No - a straight forward reply. Why?? People want results quicker.

The veneer of civilization is often very thin on today’s people and while there is good in every person, human beings are not innately non-violent. But nonviolence can be taught and it can be learned, thereby taking the next great stride in human evolution to the place where “each shall dwell under his own vine and fig tree, and none shall be afraid.”But with the world peace at stake with dirty politics being played by the unscrupulous politicians, violence has proved to be inexorable.Non-violence can be followed till a limit. For example : Pakistan has been trying to stake claim on Kashmir by force. And it would be absurd demonstrating non-violence.In this world of filth, sometimes you have to take up violence for the overall good and not just follow someting on ideologies.
We are not ‘Custos Morum’. But we can avoid violence whenever possible.“De nihilo nihil”.
It is not possible to use nonviolence, in the true sense, to accomplish an evil end.

Travelogue and photography have been my passion for years. But laziness made a mess. So now again I am trying my hand on travelogue and photography. Don’t think wild. I just went to the ECR beach, some 15 KM away from the city. But totally it’s been fun out there. More than fun I would say the calmness, serenity and the music of the sea was appeasing.

An idiot friend of mine had made the whole plans for the get together. It’s been days since I had been to a beach. And I readily accepted the invite. The rendezvous point was to be Vishnu’s house as we were going to the beach by bike.

Waiting …. Waiting … Waiting … Still no sign of others. At around 14:40 hrs everyone came. And then started my fav session.. cutting of the cake … usual b’day song crap… and had cake and at around 15:10 hrs we left

We were eight of us and were going on 4 bikes. We started for the beach and I had no idea where exactly we were going. I thought we were going to the Kovalam beach which would take one and a half hour of back breaking travel. Anyway I didn’t know the way and so no neck breaking drives throughout the journey. We left from Selaiyur and guys here the comic part : hardly had I rammed a km, my bike just gave in. I was just flabbergasted. There was no gas station for 2 km on both directions. I kept choke starting the bike… Lo ! the bike started. Filling the tank I continued on my Road to BEACH. We reached there at around 16:00 hrs. Just an half kilometer ;might be!

Karhik aka AJAK Karthi was leading us to the “new found” beach. There was not a proper road to the beach; that was what I thought. Actually he got us on the wrong turn. And we found ourselves driving over sand like in all those drag races.

At last we reached the beach. There were no one on the beach except for a few people. And immediately I took out my 10MPX cam and started clicking fotos and a video of a somersaulting dork which I have uploaded in you tube.

We left the beach as some of the guys had work to doJ. While going back myself and Vishnu gave a birthday bash(oh yeah!!!) as mine and Vishnu’s birthday is just a day apart. And the best part was the mutta bajji.
